The Hemoglobin A1c test, also called the HbA1c or A1C test, measures your average blood sugar level over the past two to three months. It is the most reliable way to find out whether your blood sugar has been running higher than it should, and it is the primary tool used to screen for prediabetes and diagnose Type 2 diabetes.
